QED to Commercialise Escher-Grad Patents on Laser Beam-shaping
Escher-Grad Technologies Inc., a world-wide industry leader in the research,
development, manufacturing and marketing of advanced-technology, high-resolution
laser imaging systems has appointed QED to commercialise its patents on laser
beam-shaping.
Escher-Grad developed and received US patents for a unique method of generating
a gaussian beam with no astigmatism, temporal or spatial distortion from inexpensive,
highly reliable laser diodes.
QED is actively seeking licensees for these patents.
Peter Ross, Associate Director of Licensing, said: "We are pleased that
Escher-Grad has chosen us to work on this innovative concept. Although developed
to solve a very practical problem in the imagesetters, it is likely to find use
in other applications and industries.
Escher-Grad began in 1986 providing leading edge photoplotting solutions to
the printed circuit board industry. In 1990, with a strong base in the printed
circuit board industry, Escher-Grad launched the first large format, internal
drum imagesetting solution and quickly became an important supplier of computer-aided
manufacturing solutions to the graphic arts, cartography and packaging industries.
QED works with a wide range of technology-rich companies to help them generate
revenue from their investments in research and development. QED uses its technical,
commercial and legal experience to procure licence income in both existing and
developing industries.
