QED, the
intellectual property (IP) licensing arm of technology development and licensing
company Scipher plc, today
announced that Göran Nordlundh, the recently retired Vice President of Corporate
Marketing and Strategic Business Development, IPR and Licensing, of Ericsson is
to assist QED, as Associate for the Nordic Region. Göran will act in an advisory
role, assisting QED in accessing IP rich organisations throughout the region.
At Ericsson, Göran built and managed one of the biggest IP portfolios in
the telecoms industry. In 1999, Ericsson filed over 1,300 patent family applications
on new inventions.
Headquartered in the United Kingdom, QED has built up an impressive reputation
analysing, marketing and negotiating IP licensing deals for some of the world's
leading technology companies, including Nortel Networks Corporation, Telstra Corporation
Limited, British Telecommunications plc and Marconi plc. In doing so QED has successfully
created valuable new revenue streams from clients' otherwise under-exploited assets.

QED recently
extended its international presence by establishing an office in Japan with the
principal aim of encouraging Japanese companies to generate new revenue through
the focussed, proactive licensing of their IP portfolios. The move into the Nordic
Region is the latest step in QED's efforts to develop the expertise and geographical
presence necessary to help companies maximise significant international IP licensing
opportunities.
In making this announcement,
David Hulston, Managing Director of QED said, "The Nordic Region is home
to some the world's most important IP producers, particularly in the technical
areas that QED specialises in - electronics and telecommunications. QED is now
well positioned to support the global licensing aims of its clients as IP exploitation
moves up the corporate agenda."
