Extract from Imagination Technologies Preliminary Results
Imagination Technologies Group plc, the international designer and supplier
of market leading graphics, video and audio technologies and products, announced
record preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2000. The following is
an extract from the Chairman's Statement:
"Patent Exploitation
While the key purpose of our patents has been the protection of our technologies,
as a long-standing innovator we also own a number of patents covering fundamental
concepts which we have started to exploit with the goal of generating license
income. In August 1999 we assigned the first of these patents, related to integration
of TV-tuners in a PC environment, to QED, part of Scipher plc, for exploitation.
This has resulted in one granted license and others are in negotiation. Additionally,
we assigned a second set of patents dealing with efficient multimedia architectures
involving the integration of video and graphics data types in the same system
and use of serial interfaces for multimedia and storage peripherals. QED have
started negotiation with a number of potential major players."
