Key Issues

  • Valid for five years and may be extended in five year renewals to a maximum of twenty five years.
  • Must have significant eye appeal, and must be new.

Why register a design?

  • Provides protection of a shape or packaging, where a company is unable to gain trademark protection.
  • Can be sold, hired or licensed, thereby generating revenue.
